Royal but Fierce: Second Edition

Praising God for the Gift of Salvation

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God” (Ephesians 2:8).

In today’s edition of When People Pray, we will be praising God our Father for the gift of salvation, as we see from the Bible passage above, it is by the grace of God that we are saved, we cannot save ourselves.
We need to stay conscious of this truth; that it is not our understanding of what is good for us or the excellence of our upbringing or anything else that we could do for ourselves or that our parents could do for us that saved us or made us qualified for salvation. Having this in mind always will help us stay thankful to God for His grace of salvation and make us understand how we are not good/righteous because we know how to act right, but because he works in us to will and to do His pleasure, Philippians 2:13 says “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure”.

We need to praise God for the gift of salvation because if God had not drawn us to Himself, we could not have come to Christ in any other way. “No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him at the last day” John 6:44.

We should also praise God because by being saved we have access to God Himself and the numerous blessings he has promised His children through our Lord Jesus Christ. “For through him, we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.” Ephesians 2:18 and 2Peter 1:3 says “according as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue”.

Another reason we need to praise God for the gift of salvation is that without Jesus Christ we could not be saved and we would be completely hopeless. Acts 4:12 says; “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved”.

Now that we have seen a few reasons we need to praise God for our salvation, let us go ahead and do just that:

Father, we thank you for the salvation of our souls, we thank you because we know that without you sending your only begotten Son to redeem us to Yourself, we would have no hope of being Your children or calling You father.
We thank You Father for the eternal love You have for us, for how You preserve us in you and keep in Your will by Your power.
We also thank you because we know that no power, scheme, or device can separate us from Your love or snatch us away from You.

We thank You, Lord Jesus, for paying the price for us to be co-heirs of the Father with You. We thank You because without You we can do nothing, but we can do all things through You as You give us strength. We thank You, Lord Jesus, because You are with us always, even till the end of the world.

Thank You Father for deciding in Your mercy to make us Your children and we know that You will keep us until the very end by Your power.

In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour, we pray.
Amen!!!
