Royal but Fierce: First Edition

Focus: Praising God for the gift of life.

"Know ye that the LORD he is God: It is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; We are his people, and the sheep of his pasture." Psalms 100:3

Today we will be praising God for His goodness, particularly for the gift of life. In Lamentations 3: 22 – 23, we see that we are only preserved alive because of the mercies of God; “It is of the LORD’s mercies that we are not consumed because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: Great is thy faithfulness.”

Psalms 127:1 also tells us that “Except the LORD build the house, They labour in vain that build it: Except the LORD keep the city, The watchman waketh but in vain”

So we see that we are only preserved by the mercies of God, the reason our security consciousness and measures work is that God has decided to keep us by His mercies. Often when I think about God’s goodness and protection, I like to think about how God keeps little children, despite their innocence and ignorance. They do not know what is dangerous and what is not. They are not aware of situations or people that can potentially cause them harm but God still keeps them. They live freely and without care. They are just not aware if they have to care about anything or not! But God keeps them. Parents may try to keep an eye all them all the time, but even they also fall short, but God never falls short! Psalms 121:7 says; “The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: He shall preserve thy soul.”

Most children become adults and these mercies still do not fail, he keeps us from the arrows that fly by day and from the pestilence that walks in darkness, (see Psalms 91:5-6). We are still alive here to glorify His name because He keeps us by His mercies.

So then, what should be our response to this?

Praises! We need to praise God all the time for this unfailing mercy, and the assurance that He still has things for us to do here, as we do this, we will receive the grace that we need to make the most of this time he has graciously given us here to fulfill His purpose for keeping us alive in the first place.

Let us Praise!

Father, we thank You for Your grace and Your Mercies that never fail over our lives. We thank You for never leaving or forsaking us. Lord, we thank you because we know that it is You who has been keeping us, we may have some security consciousness, we may have put in place some personal and communal security and safety measures to keep us safe and alive, but we know these will all fail if You have not decided to keep us. We thank You Father for this unfailing love and mercy.

We praise Your name Father because we know that You are keeping us for a purpose—the eternal purpose You have for us, and we thank you because we know that You will give us the grace that we need to fulfill and live this purpose.

We praise Your name, Father, for the privilege to be your children.

In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, we pray.

Amen!!!
