His Spirit (2)

”And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice. And it was so, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah?” (1 Kings 19: 12—13, KJV).

In the above text, two key things were found about the Spirit of God:

  • His Spirit brings peace and this is not difficult to know. When Elijah was on the verge of dying the Lord’s voice was heard, it was a still small voice (full of compassion and love).
  • Also, Elijah could tell that it was the voice of God.

The truth of the matter is that the spirit of man recognizes the voice of God. Even demons do! However, there is a need for readiness in your own spirit to receive the presence of God.

Let me explain: Your spirit naturally knows God because your spirit came from God but because of sin man has become separate from God. Hence, the connectivity needs to be brought back by you receiving Jesus, and then the relationship that was lost becomes restored. Every man became a sinner because of the sin of Adam and Even, hence it is only through Christ that we can have our sonship restored.

It is possible to hear God while you are in sin but you cannot discern His voice because there is a separation.

Are you ready to pray?

Lord Jesus, I need you! Please come into my life today so that I can be ready to receive the encompassing love and peace that the voice of God brings.

Precious Holy Spirit, please, come and reign my life. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
