THE FAVOURED OF GOD – IN FAVOUR OF MAN

Bible Text: Genesis 39:4, 39:21

What is Favour?

Favor is God stepping into one’s life to make a clear difference and make you outstanding among others. Favor brings ease to the life of a man. When you’re connected to favor, you’re connected to grace and mercy.

Psalm 102:13 Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favor her, yea, the set time, is come.

You cannot be favored when God has not shown you mercy. Mercy births favor and brings you into favor with man.

A man runs helter-skelter when he doesn’t carry favor, one of the ways of enjoying God’s favor is to love and always say yes to his will whether it’s convenient or not. In (Genesis 39:4) The Bible says “And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him: and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand.” Joseph was favored because his life was a yes to God’s will at every point in time, he never for once disobeyed God. Joseph made God his number priority.
A lot of us do not receive favor simply because we have misplaced our priorities, we have made God our number two priority. God will only show mercy and favor to those that are his own, those that prioritize him above every other thing.

When God’s favor is upon you, you will stand among kings and not mere men. His favor takes you into palaces, In (Esther 2:15-17) the Bible says “Now when the turn of Esther, the daughter of Abihail the uncle of Mordecai, who had taken her for his daughter, was come to go in unto the king, she required nothing but what Hegai the king’s chamberlain, the keeper of the women, appointed. And Esther obtained favor in the sight of all them that looked upon her. When God’s favor is upon a man, background, status, and does not matter.

How can you have favor with man?

  1. Walk with God intimately. Genesis 5:22-24
  2. Be his friend. James 5:22
  3. Keep his commandments. Proverbs 3:4
  4. Be righteous. Matthew 6:33
  5. Be submissive. Esther 2:15
  6. be humble. 1 Peter 5:5

In conclusion, remember why God favored you, you’re not favored just to show people that you’re the most preferred one. You’re favored because they are destinies of people attached to you that must be saved from famine (in the story of Joseph), you’re favored because you’re to deliver the Jews from destruction (in the story of Esther). I want you to remember that there’s always a reason why we are favored.
