Hope in Light

Colossians 1:27 “To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory”

Light means joy, hope, favor, transformation, and dominion. That Bible text says; Christ In you the hope of glory.

Hope means trusting the Lord even though you don’t have an idea of where he is taking you, But I want us to pause and remember what he told us in Jeremiah 1:5 ‘Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee’. So let us relax and allow God to do the work.

Jesus Christ is the light (John 8:12).
God himself is light, when we have hope in God, it’s a basis for building our faith. Hope is not just a feeling it’s a reality. Hope is a mental acceptance that God can supply all your needs according to His riches in glory. Hope alone can’t birth a promise, but hoping in the Light himself, brings Your expectations to reality.

Everybody hopes for the coming back of Jesus but it’s only those that believe in him or his life that will finally see the reality and embrace the joy of his coming back (John 1vs3-6, Hebrews 11:1). It’s the Light of God that keeps our hope alive and when our hope is alive we can see the realities of God’s word.

When we hope in the Light which also means hoping in Jesus, it gives us assurance in difficult situations. The scripture tells us to abound in hope. The nature of hope is that we do all we can, then the lord stretches his hands toward us.

Paul said in Romans 15:13 “Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope.” The Lord wants us to be filled with hope not just because it takes us to our glorious future or destination but because hope changes the quality of life of a believer. A hopeless man is more like a paralyzed man, he doesn’t have an assurance of his future. Hope awakens the spiritual mind of a man like a light shining in the darkness.

Why do we need hope?

  1. Hope cast out fears: we reside in a world where our safety is never assured and we don’t know what will happen tomorrow. The good thing about Light is that God understands our fear and fills us with hope. God would always restore our hope if we are ready to journey in Light.
  2. Hope helps us prepare for tomorrow: when we have no hope for tomorrow, we do not get motivated to carry out today’s activities effectively. It is hope combined with faith that makes a farmer plant the seed. Beloveth, trials, temptations and challenges will always come, you’re not guaranteed a stress-free life, but If you will always centre your life in Jesus Christ and never lose hope you will confidently come out from those storms. Remember that darkness has no power against the light.
  3. Hope helps us renew our strength: As in Isaiah 40:31, a boy running a marathon race under the hot sun will need water to renew his strength. In this same context when we are hopeless about life, the same way we take water for strength is the same way we should hope on the lord to renew our strength. Jesus Christ is our hope (1 Thessalonians 1:3). He will always hold our hands till the end of the race.

I pray that each of us will seek to have the Light of God so that we will have hope for our future. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
