Keep Me in Perfect Peace
Anchor passage: John 14:27
“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid”.
This verse of the Bible remains one of the most reassuring words anyone can ever share with you in all situations. More interesting is the fact that the Prince of Peace himself gave these words of comfort. Hallelujah!!! What an assurance to live sustainably.
The words of Jesus in that verse of scriptures cannot be more true than they are today as we continue to witness the massive erosion of world peace as the world advances. This is because the world cannot give what it does not have. Because the world only understands and speaks the language of violence after the original as recorded in Genesis 6:11:
“The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.”
The peace that the Lord gives cannot be understood by the world because it is a peace that is not defined by circumstances or situations. It is a peace that is all the same perfect in any type of situation. A peace that is perfect in the midst of a storm.
To the world, peace is only defined by absence of wars, storms and troubles but the peace that the Lord gives is such that superimposes its reality upon the circumstances. So like Mount Zion, when we trust in the Lord, we remain unmoved; not that the rains or the storms do not beat against us but because we have a peace that passes all understanding flooding our hearts so much that we can find rest in the midst of such storms. And before long, the storm can only respond to the peace that we already carry and then become still when we speak out our reality: “peace, be still!”
